Codex CLI
Use your Gameron GPT access in the Codex terminal client.
1. Install Codex
With Node.js and npm installed, run:
npm install -g @openai/codex@latest
codex --version2. Set your key
Replace the placeholder in the command for your system. The Windows command sets the current terminal and saves the value for future terminals. On macOS or Linux, export sets the current terminal; add the export to your shell profile if you want it to persist.
$env:GAMERON_API_KEY = "YOUR_GAMERON_API_KEY"
[Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("GAMERON_API_KEY", $env:GAMERON_API_KEY, "User")3. Configure the Gameron provider
Open ~/.codex/config.toml (Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.codex\config.toml). Merge the settings below, keeping model and model_provider above the provider table. Update existing entries rather than duplicating them.
model = "gpt-6.1-sol"
model_provider = "gameron"
[model_providers.gameron]
name = "Gameron"
base_url = "https://api.gameron.me/v1"
env_key = "GAMERON_API_KEY"
wire_api = "responses"4. Open Codex
Run codex in your project folder. Use /status to check the selected model and provider. Start with a short prompt and approve any local tool requests. On Windows, use codex.cmd if PowerShell blocks the npm launcher.
